Blue eyes and cerulean skies.

This week has been a hot and sunny one here, even by usual Bruneian standards.  And the skies are at their prettiest when there are little fluffy clouds in delicate drifts as far as the eye can see. The down side?  It may be attractive to the eye, but my word is it sticky and uncomfortable!  Even our kittens seek refuge in the shade when we let them out to play, instead of taking the opportunity to frolic about, like they usually do.  But the price is worth paying when it comes with the chance to look out at this beautiful shifting tapestry of colour. I’m not sure our cats appreciate it much, but the skies over Brunei are just stunning.

Leonardo da Vinci once said ‘the smallest feline is a masterpiece’.  Clearly he was a cat lover!  And as an artist with an eye for the aesthetic, I’m sure he would have appreciated the cerulean blue eyes on this gorgeous little fella.  When I say little…he is getting bigger by the second with all the food he is putting away these days!  And he is getting very used to the good life, as our newest addition to the family.  He was highly intrigued by the camera and spent a long time curiously eyeing me up!

In a curious twist of coincidence, the other photo I thought fitted for the ‘cerulean‘ one word photo challenge this week is of a wild-growing Cornflower.  It turns out that traditional herbalists used cornflowers to make treatments for conjunctivitis and soothing, refreshing washes for tired eyes.

So there you go, whatever the weather, it seems that when it comes to cerulean, it’s ultimately all about eyes for me this week!

A gray eye is a sly eye, And roguish is a brown one; Turn full upon me thy eye,– Ah, how its wavelets drown one! A blue eye is a true eye; Mysterious is a dark one, Which flashes like a spark-sun! A black eye is the best one.
