Family fun: top shot.
Memories are made of this.
Our girly has started getting herself dressed this week. She’s been doing bits and pieces of the process for a long time now, but this week she actually did the whole lot, from pyjamas off, to fully dressed, with shoes on. It makes my heart full to bursting with pride, watching her blossoming into this independent little girl. I’m hearing a lot of “look mummy, I did it all by my own” these days. It makes me a little wistful, but also really, really happy.
Laugh out loud.
“Look mummy it looks like a raincoat!”. She found it so funny that her teeshirt got stuck on her head and looked like the hood of a coat. She dissolved into a total fit of giggles. I love this age, where her laughter just comes bubbling out, so pure, joyous, and carefree. And it is so true that genuine happiness and laughter is contagious. You can’t help but laugh when they laugh. Best medicine ever.
“Happiness lies in the joy of achievement and the thrill of creative effort.”
Franklin D. Roosevelt.
Music makes me happy.
Days of the week – children’s song. To the tune of the Addam’s Family tv programme theme music. Our girly came home singing this on Thursday and it has been on permanent loop ever since!
De-cluttering, sorting, and packing boxes, ready for all our things to be taken away next week for shipping. Helped (?) by the little man, crawling from box to box, pulling himself up on them and peeling off any stray bits of packing tape. And little miss, packing her backpack “ready for my adventures”, as she put it.
